If you have noticed I took the liberty of making a change to a common phrase in my topic for the week. I have done so in light of cell phones! They are indeed a wonderful invention that allows us to have everything at our finger tips. You want to send an email or picture to a friend, done! What about answering a question like where do loons winter, done! How do you spell a word, done! And this is all on top of having a conversation using your voice or your fingers via a text. They are a modern marvel.
But as my topic suggest too much of something good is too much! I think it is important for all of us just to notice how many times our phones get in the way of real conversations face to face. It is sad to be out to eat and see two people sitting at a table not communicating but staring at their phone. Our world needs to rediscover the real art of connecting with one another and thus being connected. Cell phones can only go so far in helping us to achieve this. Let each one of us monitor ourselves to help ensure that we are not passing up a real opportunity to be connected. Not with the internet but with each other. Let us not turn a good thing into something that we regret!
