I would like you to take a little journey with me. Let us go back 2000 years and join the Disciples as they experienced a roller coaster of emotions. Last Sunday their friend Jesus who they had followed and dedicated their lives to entered Jerusalem to shouts of joy. It must have been a powerful experience and I am sure that they were proud to be associated with Jesus. But that all changed on Good Friday. The one who had been hailed is now being mocked and spit upon. He is now not being treated as a King but as a criminal. Being associated with Jesus is now a dangerous thing and because of this they run and hide. And finally Jesus is put to death. This is not the way that it was suppose to be. Jesus was going to be the one who would set them free and now they have lost their leader and their direction in life. As you stand with them at the grave the weight of being hopeless is real. And then comes EASTER SUNDAY MORNING! What appeared to be hopeless is now filled with real HOPE. Jesus’ death was not the end but just the beginning of something beautiful for each one of us who long for His Mission on earth to be realized. And so as we celebrate this Easter Sunday may each one of us once again discover the truth that what we celebrate today is the Hope that Jesus’ has come to share with us.
God’s continued peace,
Fr. Yvon J. Royer
