I know that as you sit down to read this I will already be back in the parish reunited with all of my friends. But I am writing my reflection as I enter into my 8th and final week here at the North American College in Rome. As I do so I am sitting in Adoration (silence prayer before the Blessed Sacrament) spending some time with my friend who makes all good things possible. In this time of prayer I am reflecting on my experience or should I say the opportunity that I have been blessed with. Coming up with just three highlights might be difficult but this is what I am going to attempt to do, ok, maybe four. The top of my list is that this Sabbatical has given me some wonderful opportunities for prayer with my fellow priest and by myself. I have been blessed to have been able to pray in some beautiful Churches including St. Peter’s Basilica over the tomb of St. Peter, and at St. Ambrose Church in Milan where St. Ambrose is buried. Without prayer I would simple be a gong clashing, but hopefully with prayer I am able to share with each one of you the Love the Lord has shared with me. I love the Lord and I know the Lord loves me. This is what I want all of us to know. The second thing on my list was the three classes that I took that looked at Scripture, St. Paul, and Evangelizing. The third highlight was the ability to hang out with some wonderful priest from around the United States. Ok, the fourth was exploring Rome, Assisi, Prague, Malta, Florence, and Milan which I was blessed to have had an opportunity to visit while I am here. Thank you for your prayers and all that you have done to make this opportunity possible.
God’s continued Peace,
