One of the many blessings of my ministry is that I get to be a part of many people’s lives. I am able to journey with them in times of joy and sorrow. As I was thinking about these interactions one particular group came to my mind and this was the elderly. I marvel at this group, especially the married couples or those who live with their siblings, because of the way they handle the changes in their lives. First, as we all know, not be able to do what we have always done is not easy and this is true for the elderly as well. I ask you to say a prayer today for a couple or individual who is having to learn to rely on others for things that they have always done on their own. Ask the Lord to help them to see that their worth comes not in what they can or can’t do but in the person that they are and what they have to offer because of their life story. The second reason that I think that this age group came to my mind is because of the great witness that they share by the love that they offer to each other. Watching two people tenderly care for each other as they deal with the effects of aging does the heart good. Thus my second prayer request is that we pray a prayer of thanks for the witness of this kind of love being shared with us. May God bless these couples or siblings for showing God’s tender love being put into action.
God’s continued Peace,
