Last weekend I enjoyed the company of Kathy and Richard English, parishioners of St. Peter’s, who were visiting Rome. During our touring of some of the many tourist sites here we noticed that the number of people in the streets just kept getting bigger and bigger as the day went on! It was a sight to behold to see a wall to wall people where ever you looked. Why were they here? My guess is that they were in Rome to witness the canonization of four new saints including the parents of St. Therese of Lisieux. “For the Catholic Church, saints are model Christians who, after death, live in paradise and can make miracles happen by summoning God's intervention when prayers are addressed to them.” These are the words from the Vatican web-site. Thus we have 4 more Saints of God to pray on our behalf and four more saints to show us what is possible when we have the desire to live the life that God calls us to. We are all called to be Saints and it is possible if we turn to the Saints and ask them to help us to do what they have done.
