This week we celebrate Ash Wednesday which we all know is the beginning of the Season of Lent. I know that this is not always our favorite Liturgical Season because we are asked to offer up some type of sacrifice in order to prepare ourselves to celebrate the great sacrifice that Jesus offered for us on the Cross. My friends, no one likes to give up anything, be it treats, time or money, but let me offer you one reason why it might be important. And that reason is found in a question and the question is: Am I living my life in such a way that I am making a difference as Jesus’ life made a difference? What in my life is getting in the way of me being the person that I really want to be? And hopefully as people of Faith our goal is to be focused on God’s plan and not just our own. This is where the sacrifice comes in. Jesus’ sacrifice was not easy but it led to great things for him and us. The same will be true for us. May Lent 2016 be one that we always remember.
God’s continued peace,
