My Sabbatical this week has focused on St. Paul. We began the week celebrating Mass at St. Paul’s Basilica outside of the wall where St. Paul is buried, we then spent 5 days in Malta where he had been shipwrecked while on his way to Rome, and we ended the week at Tri-Fontaine Church where he was beheaded on June 29th, of 68, the same day that St. Peter was crucified, because of their refusal to stop talking about Jesus. These events only took place because of what happened in Paul’s life and that was the profound experience that Paul had about the reality of God. With Paul's experience of Jesus questioning him on the road to Damascus he came to know the wonder of what God's message was all about. Paul is a wonderful example to all of us of what can happen when we accept the reality of God in our lives, not the fact of dying for our faith, but that he lived his faith with such conviction after this experience. Paul’s experience of God on the road to Damascus changed him into a great sharer of the faith. What can we accomplish for God when we accept the reality of God in our lives? It may be time to find out?
God’s continued blessing!
